About Art Work:
I’ve been making art on and off since my teens but more consistently for the last 25 years.. I love getting into the flow of artmaking and losing sense of time and place. I make art to:
- Mark my territory,
- Capture something I see,
- Tell a story,
- Experience and express beauty, joy and pain,
- Learn and gain new skills,
- Give a gift to a loved one,
- Pass the time and experiment with materials,
- Listen to my imagination
I like to work in various media including painting, pastels, colored pencils, collage, printmaking, fibers and puppetry. Animals, nature, patterns, aboriginal art and children’s book illustration particularly inspire me. My process is slow and detail-oriented. I have taken art classes starting at the University of Wisconsin as an undergrad and then in later years at Snow Farm, Concord Art Association, Mass. College of Art and Cambridge Center for Adult Education.

Currently I am working on a children’s picture book with a tentative title of “Flo and Friends”. It is about a turtle who has lost her family and the friends she meets on her journey to find her family. Stay tuned for this book.
Art (and craft) runs in my family: my grandfather was a landscape painter and carpenter, my mother was a pastel and watercolor artist and needlepointer. I am grateful to my grandfather for showing me that artmaking and healthy aging go hand in hand. I am grateful to my mother for her encouragement.
About Puppetry:I have also been a puppeteer for the last 10 years and have worked with other puppeteers to produce two shows with original stories and handmade puppets. They were “The Greedy Frog” (based on an Australian Folk Tale) and “Free Zac and Jack”. Our puppet theater group is called “Zippy’s Puppet Theater”. While Covid prevented us from performing in person, we did produce a short film (for adults) called “Grandpa’s Dream”. I have always loved theater and so puppetry is the perfect art form for someone with a visual arts background, likes to work in a variety of media and also likes to laugh! I’m grateful to Puppet Showplace in Brookline Village for the many wonderful classes I’ve taken there. I also have been inspired by many of the adult and children’s shows shown there.
We are currently rehearsing a new show called “Shoe Story” and hope to start performing it 2025-2026. Feel free to contact me at my email address if you’d like more information about our show “Shoe Story”.
